Do we know when and from where it’d stem?
Does it spare a life even if (s)he were a gem?
Memory of the departed stays back as a totem.
Their souls leave us, but we never leave them.
What happened to me today might happen to you morrow.
I’ll tell you all about it so you can avoid great sorrow.
Listen to me, friend; and use it to gain vision.
For one man’s life is another man’s lesson.
Life’s good, but not always. Cruel are its uncertainties.
Life’s good, but not to all. It attacks us, like a praying mantis.
It burns many dreams, and many goals,
and continues its game with unsuspecting souls.
PS: My thoughts and prayers are with the 45 helpless people who lost their lives in the recent bus accident at Mahbubnagar.
After all the rites are passed and all the dragons slayed,
After all seven seas are crossed and for adventure you need pretext,
Look for swords to be freed and music pillars to be played,
For stagnant is the life of he who asks not what’s next.
Slimy, slithering, slobby slug.
Like an obese goods train you slowly chug.
Teach me to love you and sloth—your pal.
Only then more human become I shall.
Delivers light when the sun shines bright.
Shows the rain falling from above to below,
and the shining moon on a pitch-dark night.
The eastern window is an earnest window.
Mankind has seen a lot of them: Gunas*, Yuhannas**, McMurphys***
trying to spread love, happiness, cheer, innocence, truth and peace.
Fail to know them does the world; calls them mindless; deems them mad.
Yet pursues many a pointless thing, many an illusion, many a fad.
*- Guna, a movie by Kamal Hassan
**- Yuhanna, a character from “Nymphs of the Valley” by Kahlil Gibran
***- McMurphy, a principal character from the novel “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest“, which was later made into a movie
A cherub on one day, a dude the next.
Not afraid of truth first. Later looks for a pretext.
At a mindboggling pace does time fly by,
while we do things on earth and keep wondering why.
“A banyan in the seed takes time to wake”.
Even an egg takes long to naturally break.
Wait you must to get the fruit.
Life’s not a computer to instantly boot.
Partner one might have, love they might not.
Peace might be lost, unlike the wealth they sought.
Some hearts abound with joy, while only sorrow others carry.
Look deep down inside. Everyone has a story.
